Oorzaak
A previously unknown code issue caused resource usage on the affected infrastructure to increase to abnormally high levels. During times of increased traffic, this code issue contributed to overall resource exhaustion and intermittent impact to service availability. (bron: Microsoft)

Updates

15-02-15 16.07 uur Current Status: The investigation determined that high resource utilization within the environment is causing Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) and Outlook connections to intermittently time out. Engineers are actively monitoring the service while it recovers. Additionally, engineers are working to develop and implement optimizations to improve resource utilization (bron: Microsoft)

“Engineers have reconfigured the performance threshold within the affected environment, which has remediated impact when using the Outlook client. However Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) is still experiencing email synchronisation delays. Engineers are working to develop and implement optimisations to improve resource utilisation. Additionally, engineers are actively monitoring the service while it recovers.

User Impact: Previously affected users were intermittently unable to access the Exchange Online service using the Outlook client, however, this has now been resolved. Affected users may still be experiencing delays in email synchronization when accessing the Exchange Online service using Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) (e.g., the Windows Mail app or mobile devices).

As a workaround, users may be able to access the service using the Outlook client, Outlook on the web or Exchange Web Services (EWS).”
